THT Research Grant ( 40,00,000)

The THT Research Grant supports organisations engaged in interdisciplinary research on ecological, social, and technological aspects of conservation.
The grants are intended towards studies with an interdisciplinary approach to exploring ecological and social dynamics to understand conservation challenges and address them effectively.
Its primary aim is to promote research that directly informs on-ground action and contributes to conservation efforts in India.

The grant is only open to organisations. It will be administered for two years and be given to two shortlisted applicants.

Selection Parameters

  • Applicant strength and capacity to deliver.
  • Proposed objectives, goals, and relevance of the project.
  • Methodology for the execution of the project activities.
  • Measurability of outputs of the project.
  • Priority will be given to projects involving interdisciplinary research on lesser-studied species and habitats, ecological processes, ecosystem functionality, socio-ecological systems, and policy.

Selection Process

  • Applicants who have successfully submitted their applications are screened by external auditors, to check if all eligibility requirements and pre-requisites for the grants are met.
  • All eligible applications are evaluated by a team of experts and sector specialists, the Sub-Jury, based on key evaluation parameters.
  • Field-level evaluations and verifications are conducted at the proposed project sites for shortlisted applicants by Sub-Jury member(s) and the THT team.
  • Finalists are selected by the Sub-Jury based on the strength of the proposals, the strength of the applicants, and the field-level evaluation scores. Another in-depth level of due diligence is carried out for the finalists.
  • Finalists are invited to present their projects to the Jury for the final evaluation.
  • Grant recipients are selected by the Jury based on past evaluations and the presentations made by the finalists.
